This Sunday, May 5, is the annual Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce Bridge Run. The race course uses the bridges at Clinton Street, Main/Court Street, and Tompkins Street, and also blocks access to the Exchange Street bridge. [Click here for race course map.] Streets affected by the race include:
- Henry Street
- Court Street
- Main Street
- Tompkins Street
- Clinton Street
- Glenwood Avenue
- Grand Boulevard
- Schubert Street
- Highland Avenue
- Leroy Street
- Front Street
As a result of the road closures, the only way to reach the church parking lot is by traveling south on Chenango Street past the bus station, then crossing Henry Street to get to the parking lot entrance. That intersection will be open between 8:00am and 9:45am, but will close shortly before the second race begins at 10:00am at the baseball stadium.
Coming from west of the Chenango River or south of the Susquehanna River, you’ll need to get to the Brandywine Expressway (Route 363), the connector between the downtown area and Interstate 81. You can get to it via Riverside Drive/North Shore Drive or via the Vestal Parkway/State Street bridge.
- Continue on the expressway past the interstate entrance ramps, then take the next exit to Bevier Street.
- Turn left on Bevier Street, go under the expressway, and then turn left again to get back on the expressway southbound.
- Keep left to get back on the expressway. Continue on it under I-81, and after the second light, take the exit for Robinson Street.
- You’ll go under the expressway and get to a traffic light. Turn right at the light onto Robinson Street.
- Then see below.
If you’re coming off Interstate 81 at Exit 4, follow signs for NY-7 South. Take the Robinson Street exit ramp, then turn right on Robinson Street at the light.
Coming from the east, Court Street and Henry Street will both be closed downtown, so you should turn off of Court Street at Broad Avenue and then turn left onto Robinson Street.
Once you’re on Robinson Street:
- Continue to the end of Robinson Street and turn left onto Chenango Street.
- Continue on Chenango Street over the bridge and past the bus station to Henry Street. Cross Henry Street, and then the church parking lot entrance is the first left, just after the building on the corner.
