Every Tuesday from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, we have long served a community meal that is free to all. We have been blessed with an extraordinary number of volunteers who plan, prepare, and serve the meal, which usually consists of a vegetable, salad, entree, dessert, and a choice of beverage.
We share responsibility for meal planning and preparation with other groups such as Binghamton Rescue Mission and VINES. The team leaders plan and cook the meal, and purchase the necessary supplies and food needed to supplement what we receive from CHOW and the Foodbank of the Southern Tier. With the aid of talented volunteers working together, we serve a meal to approximately 400 to 500 community members each month.
Volunteers are always welcome and encouraged to help with food preparation, serving, and cleanup after the meal. To volunteer, please contact our Community Meal Coordinator, Katie Kukol (email@example.com). You can also download and fill out our Volunteer Application Form and return it to Katie or the church office.
We continue to think about new directions for this program. If you wish to be involved in the conversation about how best to carry forward this UPC tradition, please contact our Community Meal Coordinator, Katie Kukol (firstname.lastname@example.org).
